Elevator to the Gallows

● original essay ●

Now I can understand his feeling that a man got stuck in an elevator in the film “Elevator to the Gallows”, while I am getting stuck in an elevator. And I really thank for teaching a set phrase at an English school in Japan.

“I got stuck in the elevator!” I am talking to a speaker (?) which I can contact with a doorman at my apartment, because I am getting stuck in an elevator like him (pictures below).

But I didn’t kill anybody like him, so I can say “Help!” to people who are outside. The doorman answers as soon as I said the phrase; “Calm down. Don’t worry! Now we are checking the elevator. Relax!” Just after I answer to him “OK!” the elevator suddenly goes 50 cm down. “Eek!” a fear of death is flashing through my mind. “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine!” he tries to cheer up. When I try to open the door, he says that “Don’t touch anything, because of danger! OK?” Does he have clairvoyant power? How does he know that?

About 10 minutes later, after repeating that the elevator suddenly went down and stopped the elevator was repaired. After I got off the elevator I knew that there was a camera in the elevator, and he checked me out on a monitor. He was not a person with supernatural power.

Anyway, “I got stuck in the elevator” became the most valuable phrase to me which I’ve learned before.

About 10 minutes later, after going down 50 cm repeatedly, the elevator suddenly went down all the way to the ground floor. After I got off the elevator I knew that there was a camera in the elevator, and he checked me out on a monitor. He was not a person with supernatural power.

Anyway, “I got stuck in the elevator” became the most valuable phrase that I’ve ever learned.
